Currently playing Bernadette in the first professional regional production of PRISCILLA, QUEEN OF THE DESERT at THE QUEENS THEATRE HORNCHURCH. A very exciting actor/musician production, cleverly reimagined by Director DOUGLAS RINTOUL. (Performances April 27th – May 26th) Priscilla reviews 2018 THE STAGE; The standout here is Mark Inscoe’s Bernadette, whose pithy one-liners and survivor instinct do little to disguise the vulnerability of a woman at a crossroads in her life. THESPYINTHESTALLS.COM ; Mark Inscoe’s Bernadette is the most consistently strong performance of the night. Glamorous, warm and always ready with a biting comment, Inscoe delivers this part with the class and professionalism she deserves and when it comes to the lip syncs Inscoe is impossible to take your eyes off. He looks considerably more comfortable in drag than his fellow actors, and commands the stage unquestionably. Inscoe’s performance is a clear example of the level this whole production needs to reach. LONDONTHEATRE1 ; Mark Inscoe, the production’s stand-out performer POCKETSIZETHEATRE.COM ; Mark Inscoe absolutely steals the show as Bernadette. Every moment is nuanced and affecting, hitting the comedy with pin point accuracy whilst also managing to stir the soul during the soft and heart-breaking moments of the show. In this day and age especially, it is heavily empowering to have a strong, independent transsexual character portrayed so truthfully and openly.
